Top Places to go in NB!

So I have lived in New Brunswick for my entire life (minus 5 years back and forth from Halifax to NB for school) and I hate to admit it but I never really explored this great place that I live in!

So for the last couple of years I have been making a point to go to more places in New Brunswick that I necessarily haven't been to before and explore more of my back yard and I wanted to share some of them with you!

  • Roosevelt Campobello International Park

This is a place that I didn't even really know existed until I started doing some research one day on interesting places in New Brunswick. My father and I decided that we wanted to take a summer trip to go explore some of NB and this was one of my top go to's. We explored the Hubbard Cottage on the grounds and we were blown away by the multitude of work that must have gone into it and this wasn't FDR's main home.. it was for his guests!

We watched the video that they have on his family and the cottages and their visits and I have to say that this is a must see!

  • Fundy Trail Parkway

Now I may be a little biased because I live in St Martins and have special connections to it but I highly recommend it. This is a 30 km stretch of wilderness and breathtaking views that travel along the coast of NB. You can stop at various different view points and look outs and see just hat those who lived here in the 1900's would have seen. In some cases you can even hike in and see where they may have lived with informational guides. They have information pertaining to the history such as the people who used to live there such as the Melvin's and Bradshaw's.

  • Alma, New Brunswick

Now the first time I went to Alma was in 2020 and I am ashamed to say this as I live so close to it. My boyfriend and I explored around the village of Alma which gave me a taste of St Martins as it is a small fishing village. We stayed at the Alpine Motor Inn and I can't say enough good things about it. It was a 10/10 for both of us for the location and GREAT price and super nice people we dealt with ! After settling in our room we took a walk to get something to eat and we ended up at the Muddy Rudder Bar and Grill and our dinner was fantastic! I highly recommend it! We then took a walk to the beach and walked around! We walked and saw the Molly Kool Center (it was closed) and we learned some history about the place.

  • Fundy National Park, Alma

Now I had worked at the Fundy Trail Parkway so I had spoken about and talked about the Fundy National Park but had never been to it. I was aimed to make sure that I had gone to the closest national park to me and I accomplished that. We went on some hiking trails and saw some wildlife (which I of course took video of and photos of). This is a fun place to explore beaches and history of the area with their information center. This is also the beginning of the Fundy Footpath which is a 4 day 3 night hike from Fundy National to the Fundy Trail Parkway and it is a VERY strenuous hiking trail.

  • Sussex, NB

This is a place that I have been to many times throughout my life and I even work in but I never truly experienced it. This is a small town with many local shops and stores tailored to everything you will need along with a museum. The 8th Hussars Museum offers guided tours and teaches all about the history of the war time efforts from the Sussex area and they have very knowledgeable staff.
